The Mecklenburg County Asset and Facility Management Department (AFM) is responsible for managing County-owned real estate and providing master planning, space planning, architectural design and construction administration services for County facilities. AFM also manages the maintenance of County buildings with the exception of Park and Recreation facilities.   

Strategic Planning and Evaluation is a division of the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office. The division is responsible for developing and managing the County’s corporate strategic business plan, coordinating with department directors on strategic planning, managing the annual Employee Climate Survey and assisting with other internal priorities throughout the organization.  

The Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office has four core objectives that ensure exceptional delivery of public safety services to our customers and the different communities that we service throughout the year: Investigation, Education, Prevention, and Protection.

The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's Office (MCMEO) mission is to provide county morgue and medical examiner/forensic pathology services to the citizens of Mecklenburg County. The MCMEO also provides consultation and forensic pathology services to five regional counties; Anson, Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston and Union. 

Three board certified Forensic Pathologists are responsible for overseeing each death investigation conducted at the facility, totaling approximately 1300 annually. The MCMEO interacts with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to assist in death investigations. The Forensic Pathologists provide expert testimony in court reporting their findings on the cause and manner of death. 

The Mecklenburg County Public Information Department provides news and information that keeps residents and employees informed about County initiatives, policies, programs, services and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. The department uses a variety of communication channels to help enhance transparency, increase civic engagement and to tell the Mecklenburg County story.   

The Mecklenburg County Attorney Office provides a broad range of legal services to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and all County officials. These services aim to promote the public service objectives of the County.     

The Office of Strategy & Innovation is a division of the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office. These County programs and initiatives help provide equity and opportunity to residents.

Revised resolution of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners modifying the adopted environmental leadership policy.

Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners passed an Environmental Leadership Policy and Action Plan in March 2021. This resolution requires the County to embrace justice through equal protection and enforcement of environmental laws and regulations.
