  5. Youth Mental Health First Aid: Blended In-Person

    This training is for any caring adult (school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, parents, caregivers, etc.) who interacts with youth 12-18 years old experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or who is in crisis. Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges through its ALGEE Action Plan:Assess for risk of suicide or harmListen nonjudgementallyGive reassurance and informationEncourage appropriate professional helpEncourage self-help and other support strategies In addition, the course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and covers topics affecting youth such as anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.This is a BLENDED course, which means you must complete 2 hours of pre-work before you can attend the in-person portion of the training. Instructions on how to complete the pre-work will be provided after registration is complete.
