Mecklenburg County Solid Waste and Recycling is offering free stickers that residents can apply to their recycling carts as a reminder of what is accepted for curbside recycling pickup: plastic bottles and jugs with necks, cardboard, paper, metal cans, cartons and juice boxes, and glass jars and bottles.

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed November as National Adoption Awareness Month. On Saturday, Nov. 18, Mecklenburg County and N.C. Courts will celebrate National Adoption Day with recently adopted children and their families. Thirty-four youth who have received decrees between October 2022 and October 2023 will be recognized.

At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Nov. 8, 2023, County Manager Dena R. Diorio presented Vice Chair Elaine Powell, Commissioner Mark Jerrell, and Commissioner Susan Rodriguez-McDowell with their five-year service pins. All Mecklenburg County employees who reach their five-year mark are awarded a service pin to celebrate the milestone, including County Commissioners.

Land Development to Switch from EPM to Accela in December

Mecklenburg County Land Development is implementing a new plan review system beginning in December 2023. We will be transitioning from EPM to Accela for all plan and plat reviews, floodplain and erosion control permits, as-built surveys, and bonds.
