Public Hearing for Alexander-Howell House

The public will take notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing on the question of designating as a historic landmark the property known as the Alexander-Howell House as set forth below to be conducted during the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th day of August, 2024, via a virtual meeting format. For instructions on attending the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission virtual public hearing, visit the Commission’s website at www.landmarkscommission.org or contact the Commission at 980-314-7660. 

The hearing will allow the public to comment on the potential historic landmark designation of the “Alexander-Howell House,” listed under Tax Parcel Identification Number 15506261, and including the interior and exterior of the main house and the land listed under Tax Parcel Number 15506261 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office as of May 1, 2024. Said property is owned by Peter A. Larkin, Jr. and Ashley Scott Larkin, and is located at 250 Cherokee Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Such designation would be pursuant to Chapter 160D, Article 9, as amended, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.

Public Hearing for John Phillips Little Jr. House

The public will take notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing on the question of designating as a historic landmark the property known as the “John Phillips Little Jr. House as set forth below to be conducted during the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th day of August, 2024, via a virtual meeting format. For instructions on attending the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission virtual public hearing, visit the Commission’s website at www.landmarkscommission.org or contact the Commission at 980-314-7660. 

The hearing will allow the public to comment on the potential historic landmark designation of the “John Phillips Little Jr. House,” listed under Tax Parcel Identification Number 15304220, and including the interior and exterior of the main house, the exterior of the servant’s quarters/guest house, and the land listed under Tax Parcel Number 15304220 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office as of May 1, 2024. Said property is owned by David and Janina Gordon, and is located at 1136 Queens Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Such designation would be pursuant to Chapter 160D, Article 9, as amended, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.

Public Hearing for Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and Cemetery

The public will take notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing on the question of amending the historic landmark designation of the property known as the “Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and Cemetery” as set forth below to be conducted during the Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th day of August, 2024, via a virtual meeting format. For instructions on attending the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission virtual public hearing, visit the Commission’s website at www.landmarkscommission.org or contact the Commission at 980-314-7660. 

The hearing will allow the public to comment on the potential amendment to the existing ordinance that designated the “Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and Cemetery” as a historic landmark, listed under Tax Parcel Identification Numbers 14121101A, 14121101B, 14121111, 14121129, and 14121130 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office as of May 1, 2024, to de-designate all of the land associated with the historic landmark with the exception of the following parcels: (1) the approximately 10.199-acre parcel containing the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery (currently listed under Tax Parcel Number 14121129 and owned by Steele Creek Presbyterian Church), including the structures, improvements, and features located therein; (2) the approximately 0.50-acre parcel containing the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church sanctuary building (currently listed under Tax Parcel Number 14121130 and owned by the City of Charlotte), including the interior and exterior of the building; and (3) an approximately 3.546-acre portion of the adjacent parcel currently listed under Tax Parcel Number 14121101A and owned by the City of Charlotte. Said property is located at 7401 and 7407 Steele Creek Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Such designation would be pursuant to Chapter 160D, Article 9, as amended, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
